Opening times

Hampton Court Palace is open daily except 24-26 December.


Summer (29 March - 03 November)

Monday-Sunday: 10:00-18:00
Last admission: 17:00

Last admission to Magic Garden and Maze: 17:15


Winter (04 November - 28 March)

Monday-Sunday: 10:00-16:30

Last admission: 15:30
Last entry to Maze: 15:45

 

Closures and notices

Cumberland Art Gallery

The Cumberland Art Gallery will be closed on 24 October 2019.

Young Henry VIII exhibition

The Young Henry VIII exhibition is now closed.

The Lost Dress of Elizabeth I is open until 23 February 2020. A new exhibition about the Tudors will open in April 2020.

Chapel Court, Tudor cloisters and Kitchen Shop

Chapel Court and parts of the Tudor cloisters will be closed for essential maintenance from until 3 April 2020. The Privy Kitchen will remain open during this time.

The Kitchen Shop is now closed.

The Magic Garden

The Magic Garden will open slightly later on the following dates:

  • 20 October 2019: open at 10:45

Please note, the Magic Garden will close for the winter season on 03 November 2019.

East Front Gardens and Queen's State Apartments

The following areas of the palace will close at 14:30 on 06 November 2019:

  • The East Front gardens, including the Great Fountain Garden, the 20th Century Garden, Gardeners Hut and entrance to the Royal Tennis Courts
  • The Queen's State Apartments

The Privy Garden, Pond GardensThe Great Vine, William III's apartments and other areas of the palace will remain open during this time.

William III's Apartments

William III's Apartments will be closed between 18-29 November 2019 for essential maintenance.

Base Court and Clock Court

Base Court and Clock Court will be closed to the public on 04 and 05 December 2019 for preparations to the Festive Fayre (included in palace admission 06-08 December 2019).

Both courts will be closed on 09 December 2019.

Great Hall

Between 6-22 January 2020 there will be restricted access to the Great Hall for conservation works. Screens Passage will be retained so visitors can view the Great Hall.

Other areas of Henry VIII's apartments, including Henry VIII's KitchensGreat Watching Chamber, Haunted Gallery and Chapel Royal will remain open as usual during this time.

Audio guide point and information centre

From 6 January until the end of March 2020 the audio guide handout point and information centre will move to the Base Court lunch room 2. Please look for signage and your visitor map on-site.

Queen's Guard Chamber and Ante Room

From 27 January to 4 February 2020 the Queen's Guard Chamber and Ante Room will be closed for conservation work.

Queen's Great Bedchamber

From 30 January to 18 February 2020 the Queen's Great Bedchamber will be closed for conservation work.

The Chapel Royal

During the summer Choir Recess, the only religious services held at the chapel will be Holy Communion at 8:30 on Sundays. 

This is a working chapel which always closes for religious services on Sundays and other holy days.

Free entry to the Formal Gardens

  • We offer free daily access from 09:00-10:00 to the palace's East Front Gardens (excluding 04-09 December 2019)
  • National Garden Open Day: We open the East and South Front Gardens on 01 August each year in conjunction with the National Gardens Scheme.
  • Hampton Court Palace Flower Show: We open the East and South Front Gardens for the duration of the Hampton Court Palace Flower Show.
